Newspaper ads returning !

According to the Newspaper Association of America (NAA), newspaper print
and online advertising continued to drop in the first quarter of 2010.
However, the drop (9.7%) was the mildest since the first quarter of
2007.

NAA President and CEO John F. Sturm said the data shows the ad
environment for newspapers is turning for the better. He said:

"While broad, macroeconomic factors indicate we are not out of the
woods yet, NAA is encouraged by
the improvements we are seeing in newspaper ad spending.
...declines are moderating across the board
and, in some instances, have turned positive. Total newspaper
online ad spending increased nearly
five percent in the first quarter, a sign that marketers are
returning to newspapers...

"(The NAA continues to) to hear the that an advertising rebound is
getting closer. These sentiments,
combined with the changes newspaper companies have made to their
business models to develop new,
multiplatform strategies, reinforce the industry's strategic
positioning within a new media landscape."

The ads are returning, the money is returning, will the employees return? Will the company give anything back; don't hold your breath.

The rank and file employees of newspapers and the communities they serve are the victims that suffered throughout all of the Newspaper Industry Kaos. Meanwhile, the greed driven Executives don't hesitate to line their pockets with millions of dollars in undeserved bonuses.

HEY MR.TAXMAN, UNCLE SAM,U.S.ATTORNEY GENERAL, SEC, DOL, THE TRIBUNE ESOP IS A BAD JOKE PLAYED NOT ONLY ON TRIBUNE EMPLOYEES, BUT ALSO ON ALL AMERICAN TAXPAYERS! WILL SOMEONE DO THEIR JOB AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

HEY SAM,
PAY YOUR DAMN TAXES LIKE EVERYONE ELSE OR AT LEAST GIVE THE 10 MILLION A YEAR IN TAXES SAVED BACK TO THE EMPLOYEES THAT YOU SAY OWN THE PLACE!

How much would these idiots receive in bonus money if they actually did something to improve the Company and make money instead of being paid for something they have yet to accomplish with no guarantee they will succeed..

I could've screwed the business up for a hell of a lot less than 72 million dollars; that is the amount of money Tribune will have paid to the knucleheads upstairs while under Bankruptcy protection.

I have yet to hear of an Executives in L.A. or Chicago that lost or gave up a damn thing!

Does anyone remember the "trickle down theory"?

In my eyes,Greed is as vile an act as that of murder when lives are destroyed for profit. Put that in an ad Sam!
