"We should have reported in our last post that employees in the LAT pressroom elected union representation (Teamsters) in a secret ballot vote in early January in spite of Corporate anti-union pressure."
They make it sound like ALL the LAT pressroom employees wanted union representation. Remember only 52% (140) of the voteing pressroom employess "elected union representation" 48% (131) didn't.
Hardly a mandate... and if people lose what they have, I would bet that there won't be a union anymore!
I agree with your point. Now that the union is IN, let's contribute our part to make it work, after all it's a fact. Who knows, even the skepticals might see something useful that will benefit them. If it does not work, we can always vote it out. But I strongly am willing to give it a try. I will do my best to make it work for everyone, Including the 48% that voted NO. It is my duty as an employee and a family person.
