District Court Rules Against The Union and Vacates Arbitrator Decision and Award. by Ronnie Pineda

L.A. TIMES ATTORNEYS APPEAL TO DISTRICT COURT AND GET THEIR TEARS AND OUR FAVORABLE ARBITRATION DECISION WIPED AWAY! 

Company Attorney, Jason Mills told Arbitrator, Linda Klibanow that they didn't even know why we filed this grievance because Supervisors NEVER do our work. Company witnesses then proceeded to inform Arbitrator, Klibanow how on occasions they do indeed perform our work. TWO EMPLOYEE/COMPANY SUPPORTERS LIED ON BEHALF OF THE COMPANY ALSO SAYING THAT SUPERVISORS DON'T DO OUR WORK, (SCUMBAGS!) Other company witnesses continued to give examples of when Supervisors were performing BU work, and by the time we were finished, the Company was stating that they have the right under the CBA. 

So, if what attorney, Jason Mills eluded to was true about supervisors NOT doing our work.....
THEN WHY IN THE HELL DID HE APPEAL THE DECISION! 

CROOKS, THIEVES AND LIARS ARE WHO WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESOLVE OUR ISSUES!

Buyouts offered to workers at LA Times printing facility

The printing facility for The Los Angeles Times in downtown L.A.

Employees at the Los Angeles Times printing facility were offered buyouts, union officials confirmed to KPCC on Tuesday.

Ronnie Pineda, president of the Graphic Communications Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 140-N, said the buyouts could impact workers at the facility from printing press operators to color specialists who make sure the colors appear correctly in the newspaper.

It is unclear exactly how many workers qualify for the buyout. Edward Padgett, the union's recording secretary, estimated 73 people would qualify in the pressroom. He said the buyout offers up to 40 weeks of pay, with one week of pay per year of service.

Blue Earth Digital Printing Employees Unanimously Ratify First Contract

Employees of  Blue Earth Digital Printing  located in Culver City, Ca. voted unanimously to ratify a first time contract that was negotiated on their behalf  by International Representative, Mike Huggins and Myself with Blue Earth Digital Printing Owner, Fernando Bonada. International Lead Organizer, Marty Keegan was available to answer questions during the process of meeting with the owner, Fernando and when meeting with the employees to answer questions.

This whole process with Blue Earth was unique from the very beginning for the simple fact that  the employer, Fernando, contacted our Union office in order to Organize his print shop. Fernando explained that if it weren't for Unions there would be no middle class. Fernando further stated that he was previously employed in a union shop as was his father and has seen how it helped his family growing up. 

Fernando's legacy continues because our new Brother, Sheldon Ferdinand,

 is his Son and works in the shop with his Dad. Family businesses are in need of protection from big corporations and companies that make it difficult for the mom and pop print shops of the past to make a profit or exist any longer for that matter. We have the opportunity to organize such shops and encourage our network of Union businesses to utilize our union print shops to create the work they seek.

Fernando, once being a Union member, understands the role unions have played in improving the lives of is members and wishes to bring the same benefits to his shop.
